About this deal

The Nest Temperature sensor is not designed for use inside or around any appliances in your home, such as refrigerators, stoves, microwaves or televisions. The Nest Thermostat has a feature called Farsight on board that will display one of a number of options when you are nearby. This feature can also be turned off so the Thermostat's display only comes on if you approach it, or off entirely until you press it.

Detect motion for home automation (such as Home/Away Assist or Home and Away routines) and to turn on Pathlight when someone walks under Nest Protect. When a temperature sensor is active, your thermostat will try to maintain the current target temperature in that room.

Allows you to talk to the Google Assistant, make calls, and with a Nest Aware subscription in certain regions, detect sounds like smoke alarms or glass breaking (if you have enabled that feature). Provide occupancy signal for home automation (such as Home and Away routines), if you've enabled the feature. Unfortunately, this is all that can be done to diagnose the issue without a higher level of expertise. However, we would not recommend taking anything apart unless you are absolutely confident that you know what you are doing. Inefficient heating or cooling systems can also cause larger temperature differences between rooms. For instance, rooms that are further away from your system can sometimes be warmer or cooler than the rest of your home. About chest high. Air is generally warmer near the ceiling and cooler near the floor. If you install the sensor too high or too low, your system may overheat or overcool the roombecause it’s responding to the wrong temperature.

We'll also more clearly explain what types of information these sensors send to Google, as well as examples of how we use that information, to help you understand their purpose better. Worryingly, this seems to be happening even to people who have only recently west theirs up.

Safety and Security

Zoned systemsuse multiple thermostats to control heating and cooling in different areas or floors in the home. This fi will be especially useful to those of you who have just recently installed your equipment. It can be the case that the device isn’t to blame for the strange readings, but the area surrounding it, can be.

See what's happening near the camera. Also used to detect certain types of activity, so you can get an alert when a person or motion is detected near the camera. Depending on the camera model, where you live and whether you have a Nest Aware subscription, the camera can be used to identify a face that you’ve told it to recognise and send an alert when it recognises someone you know or a strangerCamera events can be used to start home automations. For most of us, that will mean that the only logical course of action that remains is to get in touch with customer support. Included for potential future feature enhancements. Currently only used for monitoring device operation.

Yes. When you tap on a thermostat in the app you'll see all the sensors attached along with the current temperature of each and some information about how much warmer or cooler that usually are compared to your Nest Thermostat. This information can be helpful; it lets you know if you should move the Temperature Sensor to a different spot. Do I need to plug it in? Nope! The Nest Temperature Sensor connects to your Nest using Bluetooth and has a range up to 15 meters (about 50 feet). That measurement is in a straight line that can go through walls or floors so you'll probably be good unless you have a very large house. Sometimes house wiring can monkey with Bluetooth and shorten its range, but those issues are relatively rare. How many Temperature Sensors can I use? Measures ambient room light with Sleep Sensing to help you understand sleep environmental disturbances. While a temperature sensor can help keep you more comfortable, your system will probably need to work a bit harder when your sensor is scheduled to be active. So you might notice an increase in energy use in your thermostat’s energy historyand your monthly Nest Home Report.
