About this deal

German manufacturer Rokker Company have created an offshoot brand by the name of ‘Riding Culture’. The Riding Culture collection features pieces styled directly from staples in skate fashion which they have infused the latest safety tech. Their abrasion-resistant Riding Culture Chinos epitomise this approach. Hood SK11 and Hood K7 | Having used Hood’s lined jeans for many, many thousands of miles in all climates from the UK to Spain and the USA, we can say with all honesty that they are NOT too heavy or hot to wear. The SK11s are the slimmer fit (though still with plenty of stretch), and both are available with a range of armour options. Extremely well made in a huge range of sizes and with outstanding customer support, Hood jeans come highly recommended. If you work in an office or profession where you can't wear jeans, the Draggin Chinos will be a greataddition to your wardrobe. These cleverly disguised motorcycledress pants can be worn without anyone suspectingyou ride a motorcycle. You'll save time by not having to change and still look professional. Reinforced with Draggin's RooMoto MR7+protective lining using genuine DuPont™ Kevlar® fibre. Draggin Jeans have been independently tested to provide more than 7.46 seconds or 70 metres of slide time. For added impact protection these Chino riding pants can be fitted with optional Draggin Knee Armour soldseparately as a pair. After that, try some on. Lined jeans will be warmer than single-layer jeans, but there can be big differences; Draggin’s most abrasion-resistant jeans use a flannel-style aramid lining, which is bulkier and hotter than a standard knit. If you ride in very hot climates, that’s worth knowing. If you’re interested in the potential weight differences, as an example and with armour fitted a pair of AAA-rated Roadskin Taranis single-layer jeans weigh 1,360g, while a pair of AAA-rated Hood K7/AAA fully-lined jeans weigh 1,880g.

Road surfaces across the UK vary massively, but you’ll find more and more of the highly-abrasive surface dressing (or chip-seal) on country roads.

Motorcycle Gloves

We know the following statement will polarize most motorcycle riders: Nobody but you is critiquing your riding costume. Well, we'll hedge a bit there. If you're riding in a leather vest with no shirt underneath and no helmet, everyone is critiquing your fashion and common sense. Mostly, though, what you wear to ride should be about three-fourths focused on safety. The other quarter? Comfort. Because the safest clothing in the world is worthless if it's so uncomfortable that you choose not to wear it. What matters more than anything is that the armour is in the right place when you’re on the bike, and that it doesn’t move around. Gore-Tex Gore-Tex Gore-Tex is a waterproof and breathable fabric that resists water droplets from passing through while at the same time allowing moisture from the inside to evaporate. (132) Because boot diameter is very variable, REV'IT! cut these with wider leg openings, but also provide dual-position snap closures to eliminate any gaping between pant and boot. How many times have you ridden down your favourite road to find it covered in loose chippings? That’s recently-applied surface dressing.

Some part-lined jeans will be pretty much plain denim, with some aramid lining at the knees, hips and bum, for instance.

RST X Kevlar Tech Pro | These part-lined jeans are styled to look a lot more like bike kit than the other, more casual-looking kit in our recommendations, but the accordion panels help to keep the Level 2 armour in exactly the right place. The RSTs have also been tested by Motocap , where they received impressive results. This is a lab test on a calibrated concrete slab. Real-word crashes are far more chaotic, and you’ll encounter asphalt and the far-more abrasive surface-dressing (or chip-seal), that councils are using on local roads with much more frequency now. There have been close ties between skate and motorcycle culture for decades. Many esteemed names in skateboarding like Max Schaff, Steve Caballero and Scott Pommier, to name just a few, all ride. So it’s only natural that aspects of skate fashion have made the transition too. Sa1nt's one of our favorite denim makers for riding because they don't cut corners. For instance, they knit with Dyneema, a material that's 15 times stronger than steel, and unlike other materials some brands use, Dyneema doesn't impact that coveted "jeans" feel. This matters: Even though these earn a CE AA rating, they fit and feel exactly like any denim you'd wear for any application, and that means you WILL choose these dungarees for any ride, probably over your more technical trousers, and that's okay—because at least it means you're not ripping around in a pair of dungarees that aren't designed to save your epidermis during a slide.

Now, we know how all that sounds — hence the polarization. Saying you shouldn't care about style screams right in the face of all that marketing jargon and your fellow riders at coffee stops constantly kibitzing about what they wear or you wear, how well it performs or doesn't and, of course, if it looks cool. See? Polarization. Of course, you and your posse care about looks. Duh! It's just that while you're on the bike, you should quit that thinking entirely and focus on riding. The key ingredient in chino pants is of course the chino twill fabric used in their construction. Here Riding Culture has replicated both the look and feel of traditional chino cloth. Thanks to a single-layer construction these moto chinos wear exactly how you’d expect a pair of regular chinos to; with the added benefit of all-day riding comfort due to a generous amount of built-in stretch. Third Generation Infinity K-tech Para-aramid: Extensive coverage of hi-tech K-Tech para-aramid for the highest level of protection. The new double layer construction improves the softness and breathability of the jean, making the K7 (S) and SK11 the most comfortable and safest motorcycle jeans Hood has ever produced. Draggin Holeshot | We haven’t reviewed the Draggin Holeshots, but testing by MotoCAP showed them to have outstanding abrasion resistance. These are the thcikest jeans the Australian company makes, but there are plenty of others in the range to choose from. In reply to a comment on our video (see below), PPE expert Paul Varnsverry took a snapshot of the abrasion resistance tests – which are carried out using a properly calibrated Cambridge machine with a 60 grit belt –and studied all the results to find that of 53 motorcycle jeans tested, only 23 had an abrasion resistance score of two or more out of ten. They were all lined jeans.

Having a pair of protective motorcycle trousers is important to make sure you’re taking the necessary steps to keep yourself safe. When you buy cheaper alternatives, you’re putting yourself at risk of potential injury, whereas with Bike Stop’s high-quality range, you can find trousers that’ll keep your legs, knees and ankles protected in the unfortunate event of a crash. Roadskin Taranis Elite | The single-layer Roadskin Taranis Elite jeans are perfect proof that you don’t need to spend a fortune to get AAA-rated single layer jeans. Comfortable, well made and holding the armour in place very well, we appreciate the Level 2 armour that comes as standard, but would love to see the option of D3O Ghost armour for an even slimmer style (you can fit it yourself if you want.) We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons: In England, these motorways and major A-roads are looked after by National Highways, who told me that while they generally use what’s called a thin surface course system (asphalt) that by its nature provides a smoother finish for road users, this government agency only looks after about 2-3% of the country’s roads.
