About this deal

Sonically, the E5 BT has a pretty open sound and the separation and imaging are both good. As you would expect, the bass extension is reasonable and the low frequency tail-off smooth. Sweeping the oscillator down revealed useful audible bass information to about 45Hz. The onboard amplification delivers plenty of volume and at louder volumes the bass porting creates plenty of punch. In each case, I've had speaker models that were very quiet, or in worst case scenarios, there may have been a faint hiss coming from the tweeters (at a lower level) when nothing was playing, and then only when you bring your hear close to the speaker(s).

However, the near-field experience is excellent for monitoring. They are rather loud when within close proximity and more than loud enough for most listening and studio applications. With the linear scaling shown above, each grid interval is 1000 Hz. We can see there is a moderate dip beginning around 7 kHz all the way up to around 10 kHz. From there, there is a gradual slope all the way up to around 22 kHz, where the curve begins to taper off as we would expect since this monitor’s maximum frequency is 22 kHz. The PreSonus Eris E5 monitors come with 4 thin foam pads which help to stop acoustic energy transferring into the desk. This helps to tighten up the bass, avoiding a muddy and unfocused sound.PreSonus include good EQ options on all of their studio monitors. The Eris E5 monitors are no exception. You can use these controls to compensate for a small or untreated room, or less than ideal monitor placement. OK, now for the the bass freqs comment since most people out there may think that 5" monitors can't cope with those. Let me put it this way, If you love super accentuated bass freqs, and I am talking about freqs that don't even exist on an original recording (no matter if it's your creation or someone else's) then for your own good just forget all about studio/reference monitors and just buy big HiFi speakers, you will be more happy with that choice. If you are instrested in listening excactly or close enough of what has been recorded and your room is not humongous and you are after a nearfield pair of monitors, then the 5" ones will do just fine and in some cases way better than most of the bigger ones. And if your music consists of sub-bass freqs just look for something else (studio moniors + subwoofer, bigger studio monitors etc.). The custom-designed EBM (Elliptical Boundary Modeled) waveguide provides superior high-frequency response and wider 100-degree horizontal dispersion to create a broader sweet spot. Narrow vertical dispersion reduces reflections from your desk. Silk-dome tweeters ensure snappy, accurate transient reproduction.

I tried the PreSonus Eris E5 monitors on a variety of music genres, and found that they performed the best on acoustic music and classic music. The PreSonus Eris E5s also have a low cutoff switch that can be toggled between flat, 80 Hz, or 100 Hz. These can be used in conjunction with a sub like the PreSonus Temblor T8 to achieve a full range of sound. At a distance of around 1m, off-axis (facing straight forward) measurements were mostly consistent with on-axis, so these aren't super sensitive to angle, within reason. I use about a 20 degree angle with mine. Here's What Presonus Say About the Eris E5 XT Studio Monitor Our best-selling studio monitors just got better.

Suitable for both home recording studios and professional production, Eris E5 studio monitors combine sterling audio quality with the flexible tuning and connectivity you've come to expect from PreSonus®. The vocals were crisp and clear, and the highs were silky smooth. I could see myself mixing and mastering on these monitors for extended periods of time. There’s also the option of putting them on desktop stands, which will raise them up in space, so the tweeters are inline with your ears. Whether you're upgrading your listening experience or producing music, Eris® E5 studio monitors deliver superior sound in a stylish design. Equipped with 80W of Class AB biamplification, flexible connectivity and a robust suite of acoustic tuning controls to mitigate room anomalies, Eris E5s deliver a smooth, refined sound that accurately reproduces transients and high frequencies, while providing a less-fatiguing listening experience during marathon mixing and production sessions. This is where it’s also worth pointing out that these are near-field monitors, not home stereo speakers. If you are expecting room-filling sound, you won’t get that from these. I would suggest you look at investing in a subwoofer for your studio if you want more body on the low end. Complimenting this flexibility is a Low Cutoff for subwoofer connections. The PreSonus Eris Studio 5 already offers good bass, but if you require rumble, PreSonus does offer affordable subwoofers that pair perfectly with the Eris Studio 5. The PreSonus Eris E5 monitors are designed for small spaces, where too much bass would be detrimental to the sound. There’s no point in having the lowest sub-bass if you’re in a small room. The lower frequency sounds would become cluttered and messy. You’d have no way of hearing an accurate representation of your music. With their smooth, accurate frequency response; powerful amplification with tons of headroom; and acoustic tuning functions that ensure you always get the best sound... it's no wonder that the original Eris®-series studio monitors have been a runaway hit since their introduction. The Eris E5 XT is a substantial update to a lauded classic. Deeper lows and a wider, more controlled sweet spot (thanks to its new EBM wave guide design) mean that our best-selling studio monitors just got even better. Studio speakers with a wide sweet spot. The PreSonus Eris 5 monitors are solid performers. There’s a depth of detail and clarity that you’d normally associate with studio monitors at a much higher price point.
