Players will fight, loot, explore, and quest across the modular board, scoring game-winning influence as they further the goals of one of two opposing factions.Each game will see players reacting to events from the Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 video games, with each play through taking between two to three hours. How Does it Play?

Fallout: Wasteland Warfare will include narrative campaigns as well as standard caps based battles. You can also start a random mission with narrative-style objectives, search the wasteland for gear, weapons or caps. Caps recovered in missions can be used to improve the crew’s perks, weapons, gear, and upgrades for the next encounter. Gameplay supports either Player vs. Player, Co-Op or Solo play.A number of pips are also apparent on some sides of the dice, with each one dealing damage to you equal to the enemy’s level. In this case, our run in with the Raider Psycho would cost us six health points from rolling three pips. The Two-Player Starter Set contains everything you need to play Fallout: Wasteland Warfare . Please note that the miniatures included are unpainted pre-assembled multi-part PVC. If a player is on a space adjoining an unexplored (face-down) map tile, they may spend one action to reveal that tile. If any enemy symbols are on the revealed tile, draw a random token of the corresponding type and place it face-up on that space. Players may now travel to this tile on subsequent move actions. The initial quest cards revealed by your scenario sheet will detail the game’s narrative and provide guidance on your goal. In each scenario two factions fight for control. It is up to the players, and their individual agenda, to decide which faction to support.

The wasteland is a dangerous place! Resources are scarce, ulterior motives abound, and deadly enemies greet you at every turn. In Fallout, your actions can have dire consequences! Completing quests changes the course of your adventure, and the choices you make during chance encounters can change what the populace thinks of you.

Iconic Battles

Players will often be required to complete tests in Fallout. These tests will be represented by one or more S.P.E.C.I.A.L. tokens followed by a number: for example, C.L.2. Players roll the three V.A.T.S. dice and count the number of hit icons (stars) revealed. If the number equals or exceeds the number on the test, the player succeeds. If a player has any S.P.E.C.I.A.L. tokens which match those required for the test, players can re-roll any number of dice before resolving the test. Players can re-roll for each matching S.P.E.C.I.A.L. token. Weapons have one or more S.P.E.C.I.A.L. tokens shown on their card, as well as unique abilities. For each of the weapon’s tokens which match one of that player’s tokens, they may re-roll any number of dice before resolving a fight action. Any weapons with the ranged (gun) icon allow players to fight enemies in adjacent spaces. If they do not also have the ranged ability, players automatically inflict one additional hit. This game acts as a perfect homage to its roots in a table top fashion, taking you to every corner of the wild Wasteland, in your journey across various campaigns and quests you will come across malfunctioning robots aiming to remove you from their “equation” to more iconic staples in the series, such as savage Super Mutants who are resilient but not the brightest or the most deadly piece of wildlife you can find: The Deathclaw. These encounters bleed Personality, with each enemy force or faction wanting to achieve an end goal that often opposes the opposing player, leading to small scale skirmishes for power over the other to become the true leader of the Wasteland. Liberty Prime is striding forward, crushing enemies like bugs and smashing all resistance in its way – for Freedom!As the game progresses players will often receive XP. When a player first receives XP they place the grey peg in the hole beneath their farthest-left S.P.E.C.I.A.L. token. For each subsequent point of XP gained, players move this peg to their next token. If the XP gained forces a player to move the peg beyond their farthest-right token, they have levelled up! For each move action, a player may move up to two spaces on regular terrain. If a player wishes to traverse difficult terrain, indicated by red lines, each space costs an entire move action. Fallout Wasteland Warfare puts you into the world by replicating iconic features of the main franchise, such as being able to upgrade and maintain your settlement of survivors and acquiring perks to further advance or specialise your characters into various playstyles, ranging from close range brawlers who will stop at nothing to connect a spiked bat to an enemy’s skull to madcap scientists who rely on energy weapons and gadgets to achieve victory over the less intelligent members of the wastes. Each quest card and encounter is a celebration of both Bethesda’s and Fantasy Flight’s history of storytelling. The decision to place how these stories develop into the hands of the players, through branching quest lines, is genius, and works elegantly. Upon fulfilling a quest’s requirement, players will be instructed to stage further cards face-up, presenting more decisions and directions for the story. Fallout: Wasteland Warfare includes an entire narrative campaign arc as well as unique random missions with narrative-style objectives, and Crew Caps recovered in missions can be used to improve the crew’s perks, weapons, gear, and upgrades for the next encounter. In either Player vs. Player, or Tournament mode, players can try to survive the tabletop wasteland. Overall, Wasteland Warfare can make you as a player feel a very strong sense of emotion and passion in regards to your faction, putting every tactical advantage at your disposal to its full use to try and help them succeed. This can lead to fun rivalries growing at the table between players, maybe they have a heroic character who killed your longest living troop who you spent multiple missions upgrading and caring for. The game provides depth and plenty of mechanics to read through which can come across as overwhelming or daunting to a player new to the table top war gaming scene but has a solid starting string of quests to get you into the action and understand how Wasteland Warfare plays.
