About this deal

Patterns can be altered by printing at a different scale eg: Printing at 80% for smaller or 110% for larger. Alternatively, sizing can be changed by altering the seams and adding or removing a few cm or inches. Now to paint! First, make a template for the designs on San's knife. Fold a leftover piece of card in half, draw half of a boomerang-like shape on it, and cut out. Use the template to help you trace the designs on the knife. NOTE: It will take DAYS to air dry so put it in the oven, 150 Fahrenheit, and it should be sufficiently dry in a few hours. Once dry, you can use a wood carving blade to carve smoother details into your piece. San and the wolves came to the camp, and she smells that the scent from the green fire stinks. A wolf brother came with a Crystal Dagger from Ashitaka that he's holding. After the battle, San is going to bring Okkoto to the Forest Spirit, and on their way, she heard a howl of a wolf brother that she realized it was Ashitaka. After Moro saved San, she asked Ashitaka to save her that he loved.

With a very sharp, precise blade, carefully cut out the holes - the eyes, mouth, and the little triangles around the eyes. Cut straight through or you'll end up with beveled uneven edges you'll have to trim and sand down later. Use a smaller, finer brush and clean up the details with the red color you mixed earlier. If you ran out of paint or it's already dried up, mix some more (this is why you need to remember the proportions of paint colors you used. This belief is perhaps encapsulated best in a scene in Princess Mononoke described by Napier as "the Sistine Chapel of animation". It is the sequence in which a group of hunters, led by the opportunistic monk Jigo, catch a glimpse of the Shishigami in the huge, translucent form it takes after sunset. Miyazaki's films are invariably beautiful: drawn and animated with an obsessive attention to detail, and painted with the kind of clarity and depth that can make you look at the world with new eyes, like falling in love, or coming close to death. The Shishigami however is quite different. It looms over the forest like a walking night sky; inspiring both awe and terror alike. "It is not cuddly and cute," says Napier. "It looks other and scary. Then it starts to transform and you see these little Kodama creatures [tiny tree spirits, whose faces are fixed with impish smiles] look on in wonder. It is a sublime moment that has nothing to do with human beings."

After you’ve cut out your spear pieces, paint the 2 red dashes she has on her spearhead using your red craft paint. Glue your spearheads together using your E6000 glue. Make sure you are only glueing around the very outer edges of your spearhead, leaving the bottom open.

Princess Mononoke is Studio Ghibli’s 1997 epic fantasy film, taking place in Muromachi-era Japan. The only Studio Ghibli film to receive a PG-13 rating, Princess Mononoke was, and still is, extremely popular in Japan, and the US as well. Though the main protagonist of the story is an Emishi prince named Ashitaka, the focus of the film shifts to a girl named San. San, who calls herself “Princess Mononoke”, was raised by wolves and, as such, harbors a resentment for humans. (I feel you, girl.) Mix some yellow and tan for the decorative details. I first applied plain, unmixed yellow but I found that the color was very flat and thin. After adding some tan, it was precisely the shade I wanted. Don't worry about being a little messy, you can clean up the details later. This tutorial will show you how to create your own San cosplay from Princess Mononoke. The tutorials will show you how to create your own mask with EVA foam, how to sew the entire costume and how to weather everything so it looks aged. You’ll also learn how to attach costume pieces like a cape and create custom boot covers. There’s even a section for some wig styling and prop making using balsa wood. This tutorial is very beginner friendly and is a fun easy project for anyone who wants to create their own cosplay! To clean up any messy painting around the details and achieving a clean edge, you can put the template on the design and paint around it. The photos show how I did it. So Princess Mononoke fits in with Niamh's pattern of unique party themes. It's a good thing I love a creative challenge!

Take a shorter, but wide strip, and tape above the previous strip. Tape both ends to the ear base. Then rip the center of the strip and pull them together to make the taper. Tape firmly together. Make little holes in the mask with your knife. Insert the tip of the blade into the mask and twist it, boring a hole. Do this all around the mask. Don't worry about the white bits, you can always paint over them.

Doing it slowly makes it a lot easier and you'll be less likely to slip. Perhaps an electric drill might also work for this task, but I didn't have one on me, so I just plunged my tiny paper-cutting knife into the outline and used a sawing motion to work the holes away. I hand-painted simple bamboo designs on plain white paper bags to hold all the guests' loot (including Japanese candies from the pinata). I love decorating plain gift bags! Tutorial coming soon. In 1997, the British fantasy author Neil Gaiman received a call out of the blue from then-head of Miramax, Harvey Weinstein. "This animated film, Princess Mononoke," Gaiman recalls him saying, "it's the biggest thing in Japan right now. So I thought I've got to get the best to do it. I called Quentin Tarantino and said, 'Quentin, will you do the English language script?' And he said, you don't want me, you want Gaiman. So, I'm calling you." Miramax, a then-subsidiary of Disney, had acquired the rights to distribute Princess Mononoke, the newest film from Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli, in the United States, and Weinstein wanted to fly Gaiman to Los Angeles to watch a cut of the movie. For the handle, get the inside of a toilet roll, slit it lengthwise, and roll it into a more narrower shape. The diameter of your handle is up to you, go with what you prefer. Tape it securely. Age 6: Weeping Angels birthday party (I only convinced her to do a more general Doctor Who party if I promised to make her a weeping angel costume for Halloween)Use a very sharp blade to cut through the fur. Gently pull off any loose fur hanging from the edges.

Cut a piece out, apply glue around the eyehole, lay the mesh down and trim off the excess. You only need to do this for the two eyes and mouth. I wrapped some red suede-like cord around the stone tightly to hold it in place. I was a little scared of it falling, though (Labradorite isn't the hardest stone) so I um... cheated a little by affixing little bits of tape to the cord and stone. Crude, but I didn't want to risk my stone.Stitch the hood to your mask using the holes you made earlier. You can see how I did it in the photographs. Knife/Spear: I made a cardboard knife prototype, covered it with paper mache and painted it, again following this method by the same author as the mask tutorial: http://www.otakucrafts.com/2012/09/princess-mononoke-san-cosplay-mask-and-knife-progress/ Much of the technique for the knife comes from Otaku Crafts, http://www.otakucrafts.com/2012/09/princess-mononoke-san-cosplay-mask-and-knife-progress/ Paper mache! You may notice unsightly bumps and hard edges on your ear as you layer the newspaper. To remedy this, I just used tissue to even out the bumps and ridges, then continued layering newspaper on top. Problem solved! I used two layers of newspaper with a final layer of copier paper. Love film and TV? Join BBC Culture Film and TV Club on Facebook, a community for cinephiles all over the world.
