About this deal

One thing we’re disappointed to find with the Frames Tenor and Soprano is the use of a proprietary charging port on the right arm. Downloading the Bose Music app The free Bose Music app lets you set up your product, configure its settings, control streaming music, and more, all from your mobile device.

If you're looking for something with active noise cancellation and fantastic integration with your other Apple devices, I recommend AirPods Pro. With seamless capacitive touch and an integrated motion sensor, these cat-eye Bluetooth sunglasses’ controls are as modern as their concept. I have worn Bose Frames nearly everywhere, and I can say that you don't need to crank the volume to get a good listening experience. The Tenor and Soprano uses proprietary chargers, while the Tempo has a USB-C port for quicker charging.I don't like listening to music in the car but my girlfriend does, so these allow her to do her thing without bugging me. But, if you've got long hair, no one is going to notice the silicone bits, and you aren't going to constantly feel like someone is sawing off your ear.

Whether you're an outdoorsy type or someone who simply likes the convenience of adding high-quality sound to a pair of everyday glasses, the second-generation Bose Frames are a nice upgrade over the company's previous offering. For lying on the beach or poolside they might be just the trick, but for busy spaces and public transport they miss the mark. Two new luxe silhouettes flaunt polarized lenses and premium craftsmanship, while exclusive Bose Open Ear Audio™ technology produces sound you’d never expect from sunglasses. Again, given the Tempo has been designed for athletes, they benefit from 22mm drivers in each arm and the sound is surprisingly bassy. These two models aren't quite as loud as the Tempo – at 50% volume, the Tempo was more than sufficient on a riverside walk with squawking birds and chatting strollers, while we needed to up the volume on the Soprano to about 65% to enjoy our tunes. Without a visual component, many people thought Bluetooth audio sunglasses were a somewhat silly idea.

The arms of the Frames are thick, but it houses the circuitry, speakers and battery for the device, along with a single button. Or, if you're like me, you can add in some blue-blocking clear lenses that could help mitigate eye fatigue after spending too many hours at your desk. While the second-generation Bose Frames do improve upon a few things such as finally adding volume control and better sound quality, their overall fit and niche appeal make them hard to recommend. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. There’s also considerable audio leakage at volume levels higher than 60%, so if you’re sitting near someone, they’ll be able to hear tinny sounds emanating from your sunglasses and, unfortunately, you'll need them at full volume to enjoy them over the sounds of public transport. So they’re not the best mix for noisy environments – you’ll want to keep to regular noise cancelling cans instead.

Media playback functions Use the button on the right temple to control all media playback functions. While Bose has done a lot to improve sound quality, the new Frames don't quite cut it in louder environments like train stations or public transport. Design-wise, the speakers are discreetly blended into the arms, so even when you place the Frames on a table, they continue to look like regular sunglasses.Access Voice Control The Frames' microphone acts as an extension of the microphone in your mobile device. The Frames no longer sound like someone’s playing a song on their phone speaker two rooms away, and we were surprised by both the clarity and quality of the sound playing. Moreover, if you're expecting better battery life than this, keep in mind they'll need to fit into an arm of the Frames and there's only so much you can get in there without making them bigger/thicker than they already are.
