About this deal

While I cannot help but get a bit cynical every time someone claims to be the world's best in anything, I must say that I am, in fact, impressed at how fine the grain is on the Portra 400.

Capture life’s vibrancy and passion with the classic film that inspired a whole crop of new portrait photographers. The Kodak Portra 400 Colour Film / 120 is a colour negative film great for portraits, fashion and commercial shoots. Sure, this is not incredibly surprising to see with a 400-ISO film, but I think the consistency of tone that the Portra 400 manages to deliver under different exposures is one worth appraising. Since 1976, we have developed literally millions of rolls of film with experienced lab professionals and film enthusiasts. Having shot a lot with 400-ISO films in the past, I thought I liked a bit of grain to give the resulting images that grainy characteristic so distinct to film photography. To understand more about the details above you can check out our film guide or if you want some inspiration then head over to our page on choosing your next film. As we have established earlier, Kodak also claims that the film is the world’s finest grain high-speed color negative film. The guys were nice enough to have a chat with me and were very helpful with tips and tricks to better my photography. People say that Portra handles reds, yellow, oranges better than Fuji and Fuji handles the greens and blues better.

As you can see from the photos above, I shot these under completely different conditions from the shots I took at the wedding. Used this in a Pentacon Six (I can only dream of owning a Hasselblad or Bronnie) and the results were brilliant. Exceptional Dynamic Range: Portra 400 showcases a wide dynamic range, allowing you to capture both highlights and shadows with stunning detail. It is the most popular film on the market today and a favourite choice for a huge amount of film photographers.Fine Grain Excellence: The film's fine grain structure ensures sharpness and clarity, even in the most intricate details. With a wide range of exposures from bright light to low-light situations, you can create photos that are precisely how you want them. Consistent and reliable performance: This film is known for its consistent and reliable performance, which means you can count on it to deliver stunning results every time. Kodak Portra 400 is one of the world’s most popular colour negative film and is perfect for both studio and location shoots. If you’re going to spend the time and money shooting and processing film, I think it’s worth a couple extra bucks up front to make sure you get the best possible results.

Fine Grain: This film boasts fine-grain structure, ensuring that even the tiniest details are preserved with astonishing clarity and sharpness. Colour Excellence: Portra 400 is celebrated for its exceptional colour rendition, capturing your subjects with true-to-life vibrancy and depth. In that same tradition, the new PORTRA 400 Film is the ideal choice for portrait and fashion photography, as well as for nature, travel and outdoor photography, where the action is fast or the lighting can?

I think the Portra 400 has an incredible exposure latitude - it does well indoor under low exposure, and superbly outdoor under high exposure. For years, professional photographers have preferred KODAK PROFESSIONAL PORTRA Films because of their consistently smooth, natural reproduction of the full range of skin tones. Natural skin tones: Kodak Portra 400 film is known for its exceptional skin tones, which are rendered with a natural, lifelike quality. Compared to the likes of Ektar, I find Portra gives a more realistic look to life with better skin tone reproduction, whereas Ektar can have quite a blue cast.no matter the lighting conditions, even under fluorescent, you can expect beautiful, natural colour.
