I don’t believe it’s been reformulated too far from the original but it could be my age, as I used to wear this in my teens and it was a beautiful scent that held out for days. I don't wear it too often, but it fullfills every desire I could ever have from a fragrance (at this current time).

The jasmine seems considerably less indolic, while retaining the joyful uplift of the magical Rose and Jasmine notes.A thick, chewy ambergris and conspicuous civet enhances its corporeality and infuses it with more than a touch of amorality and baroque extravagance. and other greats, the composition of Joy is so pure and exact, it renders the fiction of perfume invisible and makes it feel not as a wear but as an identity that you take over or decide to cohabitate. The first few minutes were unpleasant, with an aroma like rubbing alcohol or even acetone nail-polish remover, but this dissipated and left a very pleasant creamy, warm scent, with the rose note much more prominent than when I wear it on my skin.

I have a feeling that over time - even with proper storage - CIVET taints a generally balanced perfume. After hearing the tragic death of Joy, I have these parfum and EDT for months, today comes the time to compare them side by side. Like its progenitor Joy, it shares the iconic luxury of its bouquet of roses and jasmine and that base that is so full of bawdiness that you don't know if it stepped out of the Opera or the bordello.Obviously reformulated to meet IFRA rules, cut costs and/or because it is no longer a Patou fragrance.

I love all forms of Joy, although if I had to choose this would be lower on the list only for the fact that on me it becomes a skin scent very quickly.in time, however, the bold edges of joy’s rose give way to a photorealistic creamy night-blooming jasmine, given depth by the ylang and the bulgarian rose. However, when she settles down a bit and the somewhat indolic jasmine and rose come out to play, the civet grounds it all in a sexy, sophisticated manner and I just can't get enough of it.
