I just picked up a Praxis today, and I was interested that the centers of the discs are made of rubber, rather than hard plastic.

However, it was 99% consistent, and the first time I saw RTV used in dartsmithing, albeit as the mold material. The Disc Shooter is a disc blaster, with a loading tube where additional discs load into, similarly to other blasters, such as the Lanard Ring Accelerator, Zip Shot, and Fire Shot. Using cast parts also lends itself to what I think is going to be the most important factor in trying to create homemade disks for these blasters: Repeatability and consistency.They mention that its a very satisfying toy, the discs are not dangerous and that its excellent value for money. Glue craft foam around the PVC until you reach a diameter similar to that of a Vortex disc, 4 cm or a hair more than 1. Times have changed, and now we have heavy, belt-fed, battery-chugging monstrosities that appeal to cubicle warriors as much as to children. You also don't have to work the mechanism or cock the gun before each shot, which might make this gun ideal for smaller children, except for the size and weight issues.

It was a fun experience, provided you had an outlet nearby for the AC adapter (as well as high ceilings). The Nerf Disk Shot features its own disc ammunition, but acts as a target-launching accessory rather than a blaster. Blue is pure foam, I was stupid and didn't think about how the disc was going to fire before I tried it. Lighter discs might have greater velocity; but most of that would probably be lost due to air resistance. It's probably custom, and so we might not be able to fully replicate it, but I think there must be some bulk-available plastic thing that would substitute. Heavier discs might launch more reliably (accurately), but would likely not go as far without also improving the spring in the launcher.I'm not 100% sure what you're getting at here, but I think we're probably not going to see great performance increases out of homemade discs like there have been with stefans/slugs/homemade darts. And with how hard and accurate some blasters can shoot these days, it’s a challenge worth accepting. After having it for a few days I can say the quality is as good as that of many other Nerf guns I have. You'll find multiple promotions on discs happening daily, so you won't miss out on getting the savings. The Vortex guns aren't even officially released yet, and the community is already making home-made ammo.

In fact even his grandparents went out and bought one and spent an evening with family having dinner followed by a Nerf battle around their bungalow (imagine 4 x 60 + grandparents running round shooting at each other with toy guns - just wish I had it on video).
