Edit: The heavy synthetic oud accord in this is just too much after a while, I’m afraid this has turned into a dislike for me. Let the signature scent of Kalemat enchant you with its unique blend of incense and honeyed amber notes. This can be worn in all seasons except in very humid conditions (IMO) depending on the number of sprays.

And indeed in interesting journey unraveling the pages of it's development and teaching me in an olfactory way to "never judge a book by it's cover" ; never judge a scent by the first sniffs. I've had other favorite fragrances where I just indulge myself in the scent upon first sniff, but this was different. On the drydown I smell hints of amber and vanilla as well but mostly it's still the dark chocolate oud. And mind you, the moment she said that, she was standing in one of those cubicles in the office with a ventilator on top to suck out the cigarette of the smokers. I found the more floral Malaysian works for me, and I bought bigger sizes of it in dehnal oud and sweet Malaysian).For me it’s VERY similar to Arabian Oud’s ‘Arabian Nights Black’ with a tiny little something of ‘Majestic Woody Intense’, but being all from the same house, it’s got to share some kind of familiar DNA.

The dry down is more of a rudimentary, syrupy amber—the kind you find in Interlude—and it stays with your for the long haul.Every time I open the book case type of cover / package I feel like I am revealing to my self something rather enchanting.

It’s can remind you of many many Middle-Eastern gourmand type of fragrances particularly Oud-Vanilla-Chocolaty fragrances. When the amber pops out and supports the fruits, with the oud in the background, it becomes a complete fragrance. And then about an hour the Oud and the Vanilla and the amber and the Basil rise up imploding from your skin into your aura.I bought the Dehnal Oud Collection Classic which led me to realise there are so many different nuances and even colours to each kind of oud. To start off, the presentation of this fragrance is very classy, it really stands out in my collection. I don’t really get any oud in here, just frankincense or myrhh mixing with a lot of amber and thick vanilla. It kind of feels like you're feeding pigeons in front of the Mosque just around the corner from the bazzar, whilst looking on the Bosphorous and a yellowish orange sunset sky dotted by the ever present seagulls. Although it would shine in cold weather but the smell is so addicting and I think it comes alive on me in the heat.
