About this deal

It’s little more than a hinged stainless steel unit with one corner that connects into a square that is held together with small metal tabs. I usually spend 15-20 minutes gathering wood and breaking it into 4-10cm long pieces and that gives me enough to keep the fire going for 1-2 hours. It will boil enough water to make a brew in a 58 pattern mug in 3 minutes and doesn’t burn so hot that food gets incinerated. I’ll probably have it as a permanent fixture in my camping bag except for those times when I’m really trying to cut down on weight and take ONLY the absolute essentials.

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Try to get a 3-4cm depth of twigs, mainly packed towards the back of the unit (away from the large hole in the front). There are many versions of this stove some without the port but the performance is the same just the need to remove your pot feed the stove can become tiresome.

Additionally, the set includes a mini alcohol stove with clear gradations for easy use, offering an alternative fuel source when necessary.

As the fire consumes the longer sticks, just keep pushing them in a little further until they’re fully consumed. Make full use of the unlimited fuel collected from your hike, such as twigs, branches, paper, and leaves. It works even better if the longer sticks are actually pointing slightly downwards into the stove - so try to find a stone that is slightly taller than the bottom lip of the front hole of the stove. You can also burn cat litter (wooden pellets) and with a full load get a burn time of around an hour. You can reverse the fire nest to enable you to either use the bowl provided (I use this to hold my fatwood scrapings in) for burning meth’s or whack a burner in there. That’s good in some respects because the fire maintains a good supply of air from below, but I think that they’re perhaps a little too big. The build quality of the stove itself is certainly of a high standard, nor burrs, sharp edges or dodgy welds.
