Marleen Nilsson, Anders Hansson and Magnus Bodin present their sixth full-length album as Death And Vanilla. Drawing on techno, electronica, neo-classical and post-rock influences, Sunda Arc compose and perform using both electronic and acoustic instruments, including analogue synthesisers, home-made software patches, piano, saxophones and bass clarinet - all finessed and channelled through their own unique creative strategies.

Add in elements of Spiritualized and Talking Heads with a hint of Brian Eno and you chose have a good idea of what to expect here.

I like how he is very detail oriented in this that even the listeners can feel that they are in the situation. Reflecting the austere, industrial backdrop of their home city of Malmö, the trio have soaked up influences of dub, kosmische and world music on ‘Flicker’ and subjugate them to their dream pop aesthetic. Forming in Malmö, Sweden, Death And Vanilla gravitated towards vintage musical equipment; from vibraphone, organ and mellotron, to tremolo guitar and Moog synthesisers. Integrating electronic elements and experimentation with the expressiveness and energy of acoustic instruments and live performance, Sunda Arcs music is expansive, compelling and fun in equal parts.The Los Angeles Times said, "The guitar ballad is a tender, swoon-worthy number" and Entertainment Weekly hailed it as "a wistful tale of young love lost. I'll still give it 5/5 stars because of the sound quality which is very nice and dynamic, but I absolute hate when records come without an anti-static sleeve. This is the first of several playful, possibly intentional, references to albums and song titles that litter the record like a musical breadcrumb trail. It’s a breathtaking array and makes it even more abundantly clear that Andy has entered a purple patch in his songwriting, hitting a new velocity in contrast to his initial inhibitions about becoming a solo artist.

I bought this vinyl after finding a totally random interest in Niall Horan after listening to stuff from the One Direction day’s! I have only played this once, but I remember being a little let down with the lack luster sound quality. This album features hit tracks like "Slow Hands" and "This Town," showcasing Horan's exceptional vocal range and songwriting talent. The same sessions were also the starting point for ‘The View From Halfway Down’ and this album picks up where that one left off, quite literally, with the very first words being “I was halfway down…”.
