About this deal

They both have birthdays coming up and at least once a day I hear… ‘First Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Cooper’s birthday and then mine! I am so excited today to welcome back to the show Kate Swenson from Finding Cooper's Voice, who wrote a brand new book that's out today, April 5th, 2022. I have followed Finding Coopers Voice on Facebook for a few years now, I myself work with Austin young people as a teacher. I work in early years, in a setting g for pre school children with a range of varying needs, with Autism being very prominent within our setting.

It almost felt like we were doing autism wrong, moving in the wrong direction, bucking the traditional path and dripping bits of color everywhere. The frustration at trying to find services and the appalling lack of help from some professionals is disturbing and yet Kate and her hubby persevered. It shows how a compassionate and caring Mother did everything she could think of, and never gave up, to help her Autistic son start to communicate with the world. I was the problem and changed my way of thinking, and I adopted this tagline Find the Joy, which is cheesy to some people, but I had to live in this happy place because it was eating me alive.

Given how closely relatable I am to Kate’s story, I found this to be very difficult to rate and review. For those who are in the dark about the disability, or know little about it, her story will be an eye opener. She lives for coffee, preaches kindness like her life depends on it, and is continuously surprised by the twists and turns of motherhood.I know I don’t have the ability to be on Facebook often but wanted to let you know even with minimal time , your words, stories, sharing, continue to help me if not millions of people and o thank you from the bottom of my heart! This was a book that was hard to read at times because of my own experiences, but it is also a story that needs to be told and shared so that other parents of these very lovable children can feel the hope that comes from its pages.

And a wonderful woman who is a follower of mine from New York City recommended I meet her friend, who was an agent. I think most parents who walk out of a paediatrician's office after their child has been diagnosed autistic soon find themselves with a wobbly stack of non-fiction books by the side of the bed, or on the floor.Whether you bought a book, read from the library, shared it with a friend, or left a positive review. I would recommend this book not only to those with autistic children but anyone really, to learn about what we go through as parents and more importantly what our children go through and to help spread more acceptance and understanding in the world. If that name sounds familiar, it may be because I shared an article of mine this past Christmas that Kate was gracious enough to share with her audience. I have a big following of parents whose or anybody whose life just didn't turn out as they expected, maybe something just took a turn.

There was so many moments that just I can relate so much even the marriage aspect the grief, the dreams, and how the sibling relationship and her raw emotion so relatable. There is so much to say about this book- I laughed, I cried and I was instantly taken back to the early days of receiving an autism diagnosis for our son. It's like splitting a room in half and saying, OK, this part is this half of the room is stupid and this is half the room is smart. She has created an amazing platform through her blog Finding Cooper’s Voice and her paid Facebook group of which I am a member, Coop’s Troops. And then Sawyer just kind of skated through because he was so in a sense, you can just say easy to parent. It is hard to think about all the kids who could communicate with an iPad if only they had the opportunity to have one at school.
